Not much sewing happened today but, I had a great day with my granddaughter rescuing monarch caterpillars from my butterfly garden. We had to put them in a net habitat to protect them from birds and curly tail lizards.
This is the first time she helped me move them and was a little timid about touching them at first. Once I explained that they might not live unless we did, she didn't hesitate to locate each and every one to make sure they'd be safe.
She's a little sweetheart but, I didn't think to ask her parents permission to post her photos so, you'll just have to take my unbiased opinion on that, in case you were wondering why you'll only see the back of her head.
A plant nursery had a giant variety of milkweed plants, luckily.. so these guys won't starve. They eat the leaves off the tropical milkweed fast! We moved well over 50 caterpillars. They don't migrate from south Florida so we're able to do our part to help slow the disappearance of these beautiful creatures.
