When I'm able to get a second quilt out of the scraps from a previous quilt I like to think of it as a "bonus quilt". This simple single Irish Chain quilt was made with the 3" squares left over from the UFO finished earlier this month. All I needed to purchase was a Christmas-y neutral. The one I chose has snowflakes on it, though it's hard to tell from the photo.
This vintage Thimbleberries fabrics from the Christmas Greetings collection made a perfect backing and it was just the right size. So close in fact, that I was afraid it would make it difficult to quilt as there was barely an inch on either side to attach the side clips. I'm happy to see if finally find a home in this quilt and to be able to get the binding just in time for Christmas.
