O Tannenbaum - Block One

I finished the first block of this BOM, O Tannenbaum by Hillary Gooding. I bought the block of the month kids from Quakertown Quilts.  (The shop was closed shortly after Sue Garman passed away from lung cancer in 2017.)

The quilt is a combination of paper-piecing, traditional piecing and applique.  I had barely stitched any of the pieces before this one got set aside one year. I have all the monthly kits and hope I to complete a block a week and have the top completed by Christmas.

Here's a really beautiful example quilted by Carrie on the Prairie I found when I searched for photos to get ideas on how to quilt it.  (This is waaaay out of my league but, one can dream.)
